Well this looks promising.. OnShare has a new beta software that allows friends to share and chat with full encrypted protocol that uses the native Windows file permissions.

The first thing I looked for was "third party server connection" that I have found with most, if not all, other private filesharing software. Most software requires a connection to be made to a "unmonitored" sever that either connects the two friends or releases an encryption key that the connecting parties use for securing the connection. So, in my eyes, that is not private . Anyways, by reading the technical paper found at the OnShare website, it doesn't mention anything about this type of connection or that they monitor the connections at all.

Seems like this might be what allot of people are looking for in a private, secure filesharing application.

One feature that I should mention is the way that the OnShare software integrates into the windows operating system;
Quote:
The Technology creates a new secure drive on the
host machine. This host drive supports standard
windows access permissions and sharing control. Files
placed in this new drive can be made accessible
across unsecured networks to other machines also
using the Technology. As the new shared drive is part
of the Windows Namesapce, it is accessible from any
application through the Open Dialogue, Save Dialogue,
or any other part of that application that provides
access to the Windows file system. As such, the
secure drive is available to any application running on
Windows.

If you have been looking for a filesharing program that is secure and easy to use then this might be what you have been searching for. I will be trying this out when time permits, post any comments!
