This has been irritating me for a while now, the double prompt for unsafe file downloads. This is what I mean, you click on a file to download, the Internet Explorer status bar goes yellow and says: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for more options..." (ie7_download_bar.JPG) Then after you click to say yes to download the file, the window reloads and then you are asked again if you want to save or run, save or cancel the download. Well sure, if it's my 5 year old nephew or the computer is in the library then fine but it's just too much for my own system, and I dislike having to reload the page to get the second prompt for download. So I have found the answer to this. You will still be asked what you want to do with the file but only once!

In the internet explorer window, click "Tools" then "Internet Options". Open the Security Tab and select the Internet Zone, then click custom. In the list of options, under the Download section, you will see "Automatic Prompting for File Downloads" option. Select the enable and then click OK. (download_option.JPG)

Now when you click a download link IE will still ask what you want to do with the file but it will be allot quicker and no more hassles!
