Hi... long time haven't been here...

I have one problem here. I installed Windows Vista recently (dual-booted with XP) and everything works fine for me, until I install downloaded driver from web.

My Control Panel is inaccessible now. Something in the Control Panel might be corrupted. Everytime I try to access Control Panel, Explorer.exe will freeze and Windows prompt me to restart the process. I still can access the components inside the Control Panel like Display, Networking via other ways, right clicking on the desktop, start menu. But I can't access Control Panel menu only...

Last installation I made is ATI Catalyst Driver, AC'97 Vista Sound Driver, ViA Rhine II Lan family Driver and K-Lite Codec Pack 2.85 Full...

From what I have diagnosed, I think the sound driver installation is corrupted, since I can't run the utility that came with the driver... And from my experience with XP driver, the utility (Sound Effect Manager) can be access from Control Panel.

Is there a way that I can remove that thing from Control Panel without remove the driver? I think there should be some registry tweaking to remove components in Control Panel since Brontok variation virus capable of removing Folder Options completely even from Control Panel...

Sorry for not replying... being busy with my study and internet here is really annoying...

The problem is left unsolved for now... But, I still think that my sound driver is the problem here. However, I stopped using Vista for a while since I can't seem to get driver of ZyDas 1211 wireless chipset for Vista... Without the driver, I can't get online... lol... Very Happy

If you happen to find it somewhere, I would really love to try it...

I will post my update on the problem if I get any.

Thanks...
